The Global Export team traveled to San Rafael, Argentina, where they studied plum orchards, drying methods, prune processing and exporting.

- Argentina has a favorable climate for drying, while Uzbekistan has to adapt to extreme temperatures

- Argentina grows the D'Agen plum variety for drying, while in Uzbekistan table plum varieties that are consumed fresh are widespread

- In Argentina, prunes are mainly dried in the sun (a more energy efficient process), while Uzbekistan uses natural gas drying chambers.

- Argentina is focused on the North American market, while Uzbekistan is actively expanding exports to Europe, CIS and Asia.

- Uzbekistan has all the prerequisites and huge potential for growing D'Agen plums, which will allow the country to become one of the major suppliers of prunes to the world market.
